About

The Tornielli Museum in Ameno is located inside the namesake Palace, belonged to the nobile and eminent lineage of Borgolavezzaro, in Novara. The building, property of the Tornielli family, was used in the Medieval age as a country house, where the aristocratic family used to hold banquets and parties.

The architecture of the building consists of bodies from different historical periods and extends around two big courtyards; the precious wrought iron balconades of the staircase and the frescoes with mythological themes that embellish the staircase compartment stand out in the interior.

Sorrounds the Palace the magnificent Neo-gothic garden - become public in 1920 and recently restored - in which stand out, between flowerbeds, towers and wigs with frescoes, the centuries-old trees.

The Tornielli Museum - which is located in the wing once destined in part to a magazine for the storage of pasture and hay, and in part to the noble's apartments and the farmer's house - hosts a permanent Contemporary Art exhibition: the works, testimonies of the strong collaboration between international artists and the Cuore Verde tra Due Laghi region, are arranged in the several spaces that compose the museum, forming a sort of itinerary that runs through the courtyard, the staircase, the corridors and the bookshop.

The idea of the Museum is in fact that of combining the interior architecture with the works exposed: the visitor will feel therefore a sensation of armony, of synergy between space and art. Enrica Borghi, Piero Gilardi, Angelo Molinari, Paka, Johannes Pfeiffer are just a few names of the artists who display their works in the permanent exhibition.

The "Room of the Green Heart" project - a sort of imaginary forest with interactive devices that provide to the visitor several information regarding the territory - has also been realized in order to balance the architectural and the artistic space.

The Tornielli Museum hosts then periodically temporary exhibitions that deal, through art, a variety of themes revised through the philter of the contemporary culture.

The spaces of the Museum, that fill an overall area of 400 square meters, host, finally, workshops and educational itineraries, meetings on art, current events and contemporary culture destined to adults and children with the aim of attracting the public to contemporary art and to the environmental, artistic and cultural heritage of the territory.
