Departure from Novara and arrival in Stresa.
Using the Cableway Stresa-Alpino-Mottarone departing from Piazzale Lido, in Carciano (Stresa), we reach the middle station of Alpino. Here it’s possible to admire alpine plants and floral attractions of rare beauty in the botanical garden "Alpinia" of 40,000 square meters.
In a couple of hours on foot we come up to the summit of Mottarone (1491 m) along the paved road or following one of the many marked paths. The less adventurous can take the cableway again to reach in only 30 minutes the top of Mottarone.
Mottarone is called "the mountain of the two lakes" because of its unique position. At the top visitors can enjoy a breathtaking view: Maggiore Lake with its beautiful Borromee Islands, Orta Lake, as well as the most important mountains, such as Monviso, Monte Rosa and Mischabel peaks.
If you are lucky, in a clear day, you can also admire Novara Dome.
At lunch time there are chalet-restaurants to taste local food and bars or we can have packed lunch.
In the afternoon departure from Stresa and, on the way back, stop at Armenia to visit COOP. Mottarone farm specialized in local cheese, ricotta and blue cheese.
Then return to Novara.
