The 2022 Skyrunning World Championships, which are returning to Italy after 12 years, scheduled from September 9th to 11th, will be hosted in the Ossola valleys.
The three main skyrunning disciplines of the Championships are: VERTICAL, SKY, and SKYULTRA.
The events will kick off with the VERTICAL at the Rampigada Vertical at the San Domenico ski area - 3.8 km long with 1,063m of positive difference in altitude.
The SKY discipline will be held at the Veia SkyRace®. The track extends along Val Bognanco, and is 31 km long with 2,600m of positive difference in altitude along paths, peaks, moraines and with fixed ropes - a real skyrunning course.
The SKYULTRA discipline reaches an altitude of 3,000m where the views along the route pay off the grueling challenge of the Bettelmatt SkyUltra, 56 km with 3,692m of positive difference in altitude. Exploring Val Formazza, the route crosses alpine passes, natural and artificial lakes and the spectacular Toce waterfall.
