The Treno del foliage returns, offering passengers a slow journey on board a train with panoramic views that has travelled through Italy and Switzerland since 1923, covering an itinerary ranging from Domodossola in Piedmont to Locarno, in the Swiss canton of Ticino on Lake Maggiore.
The route is run by the Vigezzina-Centovalli Railway, which enthrals visitors all year round, attracting hundreds of thousands of passengers from all over the world. However, autumn has to be the most stunning time of year to travel along this route as the rows of amber trees, mountain peaks dusted with the first snow of the year and the magical colours of the foliage will leave you speechless.
