From 30 November to 2 December the conference destination Lake Maggiore Meeting Industry will be taking part for the second year running in the EIBTM in Barcelona, the prime meeting and events fair in the world. The event provides three days of targeted contacts in a dynamic, professional working environment bringing together exhibitors, hosted buyers and professional visitors. It will be held in Pavilion 3 of the Fira Gran Via Barcelona, and is open from 10 am to 6 pm on Tuesday 30 and Wednesday 1 December, and from 10 am to 5 pm on 2 December. The 2009 EIBTM saw the participation of 3,791 hosted buyers, to a total of over 8,000 participants.

Lake Maggiore Meeting Industry will be at EIBTM with its own stand, introducing professionals in the sector to the range of facilities offered by Lake Maggiore Conference, Varese Convention & Visitors’ Bureau, and the Convention Bureau of the Lake Maggiore Tourist Board of Locarno, comprising 394 hotels and 494 meeting rooms seating a total of 49,551. Promotional material advertising the conference destination and the convention bureaus will be available at the stand, as well as the interactive CD “Leisure Time”, designed for conference participants, which illustrates everything on offer in the area as regards free time activities.

This joint promotion of the conference offer of Lake Maggiore Meeting Industry is one of the features of the project “Meeting without borders: conferences and incentive trips on Lake Maggiore”, funded by the Programme for Italy - Switzerland Cross - border Cooperation 2007 – 2013 and implemented by the Chambers of Commerce of Verbano Cusio Ossola, Novara and Varese, Associations, Local Tourist Offices, Provinces, Villa Taranto, and Verbania Town Council. After International Confex in London, Imex in Frankfurt and BTC in Rimini, EIBTM is the fourth and last event that the Lake Maggiore Meeting Industry destination will be taking part in under this project in 2010. Other events this year have been two meetings with the Territorial Ambassadors in Stresa and Varese, and in October, the first Lake Maggiore Meeting Industry familiarization tour, which saw the participation of 22 European operators. Participation by the destination in next year’s Frankfurt, Rimini and Barcelona events has already been confirmed.
